Im gonna order a green cold cathode from bgmicro.com - LIT1022 : Green Fluorescent Green Fluorescent : $7.99 - PWR1110 : Fluorescent 12V Power Supply 300mm Fluorescent Power Supply : $7.99 Thats all I need to order to have a working cold cathode that I can just plug in to a molex connector from my PSU, right? I just wanna make sure Im not missing anything. Thanx in advanced
Actually, you're pretty close, but you're missing something. The inverter/ps has bare wire leads. So if you're going to connect it to a fanbus or something, you're set. Otherwise you need to connect it to a molex. What I usually do is take one of those y-adapter deals, cut off one end, then attach your inverter to it. I also recommend hooking a switch up to it, you may not always feel like having a bright green glow in the corner...
I knew i was forgetting something, thanx Beaner, Ill add a Y adapter. a few question: For anyone that has ordered from bgmicro.com, whats their return policy? I know CCT are very fragile, and I would hate for it to arrive at my house all broken and now way to get my money back, or exchange it.
I haven't personally ordered from there, but I hear they're quite reasonable about returns and shipping damage. They are highly regarded as a supplier.
ive ordered 4-5 ccfl from them and they are extremely well packed and very cool about broken / missing parts.
Dont forget to get some heat shrink or a project box to put the inverter in, it's not insulated. And they do package em very nicely, you shouldnt have any troubles.
