hello, I'd need some help from a professional metal worker here. I need to know if it would be possible to manufacture something like this in 2-3mm steel or aluminium, or if I should find something else. or if it would be extremely expensive. it's important that it has curved edges, and not sharp. at least a 3-5mm curve. so here are some drawings : the dimension are not 100% right though all the mesurments are 10x too big btw I'd really appreciate some help before I continue with my planning thanks
i guess theyd have to make unique stamps which i gueeeess would be around 4000 bucks, not to mention about the time it would consume to build this and make it work right, im not a professional metal worker though, what you could try is mill stamps out of metal or something and look for someone with a strong press (dunno, but i guess it will need more then 5 tonnes to push 3 mm of steel) and make the parts for yourself, oh my, well i would change the design or come up with another method, because mine are hella expensive and time consuming
hmmm... I wasn't thinking about bending metal, but welding some pieces together and sand them to get a round edge.
Something like that, I think La' Carotte somethingorother who seems a dab hand with the old metal work would be worth contacting. He has the project log, "[Windrider] Shiny steel for charity" He shows the skills to be in the know.
It would seem possible, if each side was an individual piece, and then welded together. seems fairly easy, but I've never worked with metal, to this extent... just going by what i have seen done.
just make a frame from mdf, route roundings on and glass it with a couple of layers, bog it, laquer it in whatever color u want, done !
