is there any places that sell gift cards, that act like credit cards (can be used anywhere online) and like u just give cash and they upload it to the card?

cuz i really need a debit card or a credit card but im not old enough for one, and i hate having to go through the trouble (ie weeks of asking) to get my dad to let me use his credit card

is there such a thing? (im in the US)

I saw some prepaid Mastercards at CVS, you might want to check those out.

Erm... paypal? It's no debit card (though I think you can get one through them, not sure if you have to be 18 for it either, I know a friend who has one and isn't) but most places online accept it. Including Newegg, the one store online where it really matters to geeks.

I dont know if you have any Charter One Banks in Missouri, but in Ohio, thats where i get mine. Proudly accepted where ever mastercard is accepted. (except walmart, their credit card machines dont like them for some reason) I buy almost all my modding stuff with them and they work great. When they run out, i use them as a card to put my Xbox live subscription on, when i run out of prepaid months on my xbox, microshaft is only gonna get $1.06 :D

You could ask your parents to get you a debit card and/or set up a checking account or something for you :p. Some banks offer debit cards that are specifically targeted at teens, you probably only need parental approval.

Do as i do, remember your parents credit card details.
I managed to purchased DOD:Source last night without even checking the details, thats the 16 digit number, the expirary date and the security code, and yes i did ask for their permission first!

are you aware that you're contradicting yourself? why should you need to memorise the details if you have their permission?

I dont see how, im just stating that i know it, but im not gonna do it without their permission, thats just naughty, just means i can use it whenever, without them being there. Such as, i havnt got much credit on my phone, but im away from home, i send a text asking to use it, and i can phone up the top up line without having the card with me.

That might be what you are looking for. You might need a credit card to get one but you could have someone (you dad) buy one for you. Amounts range from $25-$250. It costs like $6 for shipping.

Entropay is what you're after, but you still need a debit card for it. You can get them at 14 IIRC, so it shouldn't be a problem

It takes a few days to set up because first you have to enter your Debit card/bank details, then wait for them to charge you £10 (in two sums), once you tell them the two sums you have to send/fax/email them photocopies of your card. Phew.

Finally when it's all done, they issue you a Visa card. The idea is you pre-pay into your account and then the Visa is active for that amount.

It is a bit of a hassle but for some people it's the only way they can shop online. The only thing is, I'm not sure if it offers the protection of a normal credit card.

Why not get solo or visa electron? You can use them if you are under 18. How old are you anyway?

Guys, look to your left. The guy lives in Missouri, I'm pretty sure that Solo/Electron stuff is UK/Europe only. Think international ;).

Thats a pretty dumb thing to do. First rule of paypal is don't link it to a bank account, or link it to a bank account that has a near $0 balance, and you transfer funds into it when you need them.

Theres about 6 different kinds of banks within a 1 mile radius of my house. I'm 100% sure 5 out of the 6 banks issue Visa Debit cards with checking accounts. Simply ask your parents to set you up with a checking account (both of your names are on the account). Its standard now a days for checking accounts to give you a visa/mastercard branded debit card.

Theres no reason you can't shop around for a bank that gives visa/mastercard debit cards. It takes less then 15 minutes to open a new account (though you'll need your parents for checking)

Theres also online bank account options that will give you debit cards. Have your parents set up an account, transfer money from your bank accounts now, and your good to go.

Paypal is a dumb thing to do. Its not FDIC insurred. Even though FDIC doesn't mean much, its still better then no protection.

Also, getting a credit card is the better option.. ask your parents to co-sign a credit card in your name. Local bank are great for setting this up. It'll help you establish a credit line for down the future, and buying with credit is always better then debit. If someone gets your debit card, they can run through all of your savings (and then some if your bank lets you go into a negitive balance). With credit you have some protection with charge backs and theft prevention programs.

Oh, and credit cards with rewards programs are always then win $$.
