Hey, Im looking to get a new keyboard for *********, but I can't find one I like. I'd like either use the keyboard before I buy it, or at least talk to someone who has used it. Any way here's what im looking for... Not too expensive (prefer under $30 but would like to hear all suggestions) Not wireless (going to be used for gaming and I dont want to be replaceing batteries every few weeks) Not laptop style keys (I cant stand laptop keyboards) Thanks for the help
Why is ********* blocked out??? ANyway... not all wireless keyboards use loads of power. I replace the AAA cells in this Logitech Desktop MX keyboard once every 18 months... in fact... I've only ever had to replce them once. I think they'll last the duration of a LAN party They're cheap now too if you can still get them without the bundled MX700 mouse (which still kicks ass). The new Saitek light up jobby seems nice too.
Yeh, wireless keyboards last for ages. I've had my standard logitech cordless desktop keyboard with AA batteries for 7 months now and it hasn't run out once. Logitech provide duracells as standard which I think is a nice touch, seeing as you usually get batteries from some random company you've never heard of.
you can't say *********? (X-mas) another reason i didnt want a wireless one was because the one a have now lags a bit in games (you release w but you keep moving for an instant...might not sound like much but its a pain)
Bought one of these back in March, Best $15 ever spent, ever! I love this thing, great feel when pressing keys, nice key response and its black. This thing is sooo nice to type on, almost makes me want to start term papers early just to type on it (well thats a little exageration but its nice) What more could you want? Heres the link incase the above one doesnt work: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16823131119
I got a btc multimedia keyboard at frys about a year ago at frys for about $10 (on sale). the multimedia buttons are some of the most convenient I've ever had, a built in cut, copy, and paste buttons, back, forward, close, alt+tab button, audio controls, and a ton more. I absolutely hated the wierd design of the arrow keys and the space bar, but now I don't even notice them. I wore the letters off my wasd keys a while ago and I'm still going strong. Hand rests are quite comfortable, hotkeys are customizable for webpages or apps. http://shop3.outpost.com/product/3671005?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
I have this keyboard and love it. saitek The price is over 30 dollars but its nice has good feal lights up, its sturdy, and (positive for me) not clutered with massive amounts of buttons. HAs a volume control setup though (volume up down and mute) makes things easier in games. I got mine as a payment for helping someone pick out a laptop but it was 50$ at best buy.(mine was cheaper because with laptop purchases yuo get money off 3 computer components)
I also have a Microsoft MX 4000, and I agree completely, it's rubber/leather wristmat thing is awesome, and it is completely comfortable.
...nope RTT... timE ago, he decided that all this nonsense talk about xmas, before it was actually xmas was annoying, thus it is blocked! very wise indeed if you ask me! ...but to get on topic about keyboards...i think tis very hard to ask other people advice on keyboards, as you are the one that is going to be using it...and as you know we are all individuals (monty python flashback, or is it just that my mommy told me im special ) ...well, so what im trying to say, what works for some doesnt work for others...ie some people like those microsoft natural e1337 type keyboards, whereas to me they are like trying to type a letter on a set of bongos! personally i like cherry (tm) keyboards, for their tactile touch/response (seriously, thats how they used to be advertised) but your best bet is to go round trying out as many keyboards as possible, and just checking yourself which one feels good to use and which one doesnt...
I've got to agree with RotoSequence here, I've had my Dell QuietKey since i left for uni many moons ago (read 4 years) and have written hundreds of thousands of words on it, played stupid amount of hours worth of games on it, and apart from a strip down and clean at the end of its 4th year of use, its been maintenance free, easy use, with no (and i mean it) key wear at all, all the lables are still as they were the day i got it. I love the feel, the keys are nice and posative with quite a lot of travel, its simply the best keyboard I've ever used. I'm not sure if you can buy them as aftemarket items, but I'm sure someone must have one lying around somewhere you could get!!
