When I go to Advanced>Deauthorize Computer I get the following error message:
Here's a list of extra details:
    • The computer authenticates against an Active Directory Domain
    • The user's account is listed as an "Administrator" in the Directory Access utility
    • OSX ignores the above item, so the user is not an Administrator on the box
    • I am an administrator on the box, so if they want access, they just need to ask me and I'd happily type in the admin username and password.

I'm a bit disgruntled because this Mac Mini should have been hooked up to a projector in a classroom a week ago, but we can't get it deauthorized before we wipe the computer. Boo.

Try going to Disk Utility and doing a Repair Permissions.

I just updated iTunes, then tried to deauthorize, and it told me nothing was authorized. (Even though I could play any songs earlier) So I tried playing some iTunes purchased music, and low and behold it had deauthorized.

So it looks like not having the latest iTunes was the issue, yet it was still a little confused as to what to do, but in the end it worked, and I deleted all the songs, and the computer is now 6GB happier. :)

The fact that it never truly did what I expected it to but it wound up working in the end makes me even more confused than I was when I started, but at least I can move to the next step: disconnecting from the Domain, setting up a local user, and restricting them so they can't mess anything up.

Thanks for the tip though, that's definitely a good utility to know about!
