    Hi all,

I ran into a problem where I cannot delete a bittorrent file in XP. Oddly, when saving the file off the website, it also saves a "link file" like file that bares the same name. For example if the file was named:

    CAP6NDDU (40k)

...it saves a "link file" called:

    CAP6NDDU. (0k)

I am able to delete the 40k file but not the 0k file. I usually use a client for torrents, and the links load automaticaly into the client, but in this case it did not load, that is why I tried to save the torrent file first.

    Link taken off.....appologies. :wallbash:

    Any insight is appreciated

Yes I've tried just about everything:
cmd, safe mode, drDelete, MoveOnBoot...etc, without any luck.

If I delete any of the two files the other renames itself with a "." ending, no extension, and becomes undeletable. Interestingly, I can see the file through GUI (Explorer or other utils) but it won't list through command prompt.

When trying to delete from Explorer I get:
"cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or disk"
...as it would not be there. Something is fooling the GUI. I also ran anti spyware and antivirus software, without any luck.

XP is like that as it is g*y. You can create a folder then want to delete it and it says its being used by another program.

You want rid of it, format :)

Have you tried moving it to another folder then try deleting it. Sometimes that works.

change to the directory its in and
    dir /x
that will show the old 8.3 filename used you can the type delete whatever the filename is.
it maybe that the file has a space or strange character at the end that your not entering.

If you have Partiton Magic 8 you can browse to the file and delete it that way no problem :thumb:
