I used to be able to, but I've just got my iPhone and apparently I now cant. I just get a circle with a slash through it when I try to drag in compatible video. I know the video is correct: mp4, h264, 320x240 - it's a preset I always used with my iPod touch and it worked fine, but the iPhone just wont have it. What the hell is going on? There's not even a "sync from directory" option within iTunes. The whole reason I bought the iPhone over Android is that I knew video worked easily. EDIT: I cant even do it with my own music. WTF is going on?
Does it work when you either add a file or folder to library? EDIT After a quick google search, I found that this is a common problem. There are no fixes but some people have suggested uninstalling itunes, reseting your iphone and starting from the begining again.
Wow I dont know what you Googled because I looked for ages and only came up with "Palm Pre no longer sync's!" news. Thanks a lot though - Im doing the old redownload and reinstall right now +rep
With the iphone you need to create a playlist in itunes then drop music & video in to it. Then sync the playlist with the iphone
Thanks I'll give it a go now. I've just removed and deleted all traces of Apple on my machine as the reinstall didnt work.
IIRC you can also use the video tab on the iphone menu's in itunes to manually select which videos to sync from your library. Confused the hell out of me a couple of years ago when I got the original iphone
I cant make a playlist at all and there's no option you're describing here. The "itunes library" on my PC shows nothing from the directory I point it to except for "shop in itunes" EDIT: Did it! Sort of.. It makes a directory called "Automatically Add to iTunes" so I dropped media into there. Unfortunately it's too stupid to realise that the media is already ipod compatible, and it tries to convert it again. Slowly. There's no bitrate control.. or anything. EDIT2: YES! this works what you said above ^^ in my iPhone under the movies tab I just select them and click sync. ****ing. Finally.
You can also use the file menu to add a folder to itunes with media in it without importing it (although it needs cataloging)
