    Hi all

I'm new to this forum and I am seeking a bit of help with a recent build
    .
    Abit IP35 pro xe
    Intel Q6600 slcr
    WD 500gb sata
    4gb corsair dominator 8500
    Sapphire radeon toxic HD4850
    Zalman cnps 9700 cooler
Coolermaster CM690 case and 520w psu

Everything is stock I have not adjusted anything in the bios, my problem is that I have 8mb of memory but cannot get the system to run with the second 4 on board.
I have done loads of builds in the past but this is the first for about 5 years!!

    Thanks in adavance

I'm asusuming you mean 8GB, and is your problem that the system is only recognising 4GB or that the system will not run at all with the extra 4GB onboard

What operating system do you have installed and is it a x64 bit or not?

Could be an issue with dual sided and single sided memory. It could be that the board will ony recognise single sided memory in te remaining 2 banks. Do a quick google on your mono to find out. (on iPhone at mo so can't really do that foe you)

Have you tried to update the bios on the board?

I would have said to loosen the timings or speed if you had overclocked, but if everything is left as auto in the bios then that shouldn't be an issue.

Have you tested each stick, and mix and matched the sticks to make sure its not the memory itself causing faults?

Sorry, only just read this one again, can you tell us 1.) Your exact motherboard, 2.) The exact RAM that was in your system, and 3.) The new RAM... I'm suspecting voltage issues

Have you tried both sets of memory on their own? Could be your second batch is dodgy.

Could be different latencies or voltages in the new RAM.
RAM get's updated quite often and the same model isn't always the same specs.

+1 Had a similar issue on my system getting 8GB to run before I increased the voltages very slightly.

Haven't done anything with the bios, but have mixed and matched all four modules and can get 4gb to run with any 2 modules on board so seems eack module is ok

Board is an Abit IP35 pro xe model number is P35XEMBF003103 V1.0
LGA775 FSB 1600. dual DDR2 1066. Memory is Corsair Dominator twin 2x4096-8500c5d, 5-5-5-15 v2.0. New is exactly the same except v2.1, however I have mixed and matched all modules and they run ok.

Was it just on the memory?

FYI... There is an edit button... USE IT!!

Yes just the memory voltage was changed, and funny enough, its exactly the same Corsair Dominators...

    8GB, 1066MHz, 5-5-5-15 @ 2.2V working just fine.

I found the best way was to install 2 sticks... then go in to the bios and adjust the voltage to 2.2v for the memory.
Save and switch off, insert the next 2 sticks then boot.

    Good luck :)

I know another member was running a q6600 with 8gb of ram on a abit ip35 pro, forgot who but I don't recall him ever having problems. Have you tried updating the bios or adjusting the voltage? Are all the ram pairs the same speed?

Thanks for your reply, I adjusted the voltage through to 2.1v in stages and got the board to accept the 4 modules, however, it only read 6gb.
I then adjusted it to 2.2v but this made no difference. Thinking I may have one duff module I have switched modules around slots in all configurations, modules are all ok but cannot get it to read more than 6gb even with all 4 modules on board.
Is it wise or safe to put the voltage up or should I be looking at adjusting other voltages? I have to admit I'm an absolute novice when it comes to overclocking!!
