I've just been gifted this camera from work as someone from the Marketing Department wanted to get rid..

I am a complete novice to this so can someone explain to me if I've got something worthy of spending some time on? :dremel::dremel:

In all honesty I would expect most mobile phone cameras to outperform that nowadays... It was a relatively cheap camera released more than a decade ago

Let me know how you get on if you do. I always fancied it but never had a sufficiently old enough camera at hand to butcher.

Although it may be low res, zoomed in it will b better than a cameraphone which will produce dreadful images with digital zoom enabled.
@veato, the IR mods look fun; maybe a charity shop camera or cheapo on gumtree could be the answer for me if I'm feeling adventurous.
I won't try my old NEX 5 first...

I have an A710IS in a drawer. I have some nice shots I took with it back in the day that I feel anything but maybe fairly recent fairly high end phone cameras would struggle to match. That said maybe my memories are rose tinted. I might try a side by side or two just out of interest.
