Well as seen as no one with more knowledge has replied I'll give you my thoughts. I have that very lens with my EOS 80D and it is the lens that I take 95% (possibly more) of my pictures with, the only other lens that I even have in my camera bag at the moment is a 50mm / 1.8 for portraits etc. I should point out that its purely for recreational use, I don't even consider myself a hobby photographer but I'm very happy with the performance of the lens.
That looks like a really nice lens. How would it compare to my Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens?
I have a few older lenses with the standard USM motor and I'd say the nano is quicker and much quieter.
Why not sell some of your lenses and invest in someting like a f2.8 24-70 and f2.8 70-200. With only two lenses you have a great range. Also Canon has a f4 70-200 which is not that expensive. You can also have a look for Tamron or Sigma for both. Shooting with a f2.8 70-200 nikon myself on a very old Nikon D3 I can say the quality of the pictures is just so much better then on other cheaper "zoom" lenses. Better investing in good glass so you have them when switching bodies.
