Yep, if the quality and price was right. i really admire Canon for trying something new and risky to the business and i will be looking forward to seeing their TV's in the flesh so i will reserve judgement on the quality of the technology untill then.

it takes companies like this to shake up the market and try something slightly different, the other main manufacturers are in a steady develpent of the technologies and wont release them untill they have made as much money of the current technologies as possible.

look at sony, when they release the first playstation they got a bit slated byt the press, mainly for using a CD etc, but Nintendo and Sega realised what the Playstation could do and has acheived. its changed they way and type of games we play. if cannon can do something similar fair play

Canon are ALWAYS pushing the boundries which is good stuff.

I also am one of those who will ONLY buy Canon cameras but I also prefer Toshiba for TV so the pair working as a team in my eyes is a perfect combination

I'll be looking forward to this. Businesswise, I agree with everything Monkey200SX said above...should cause some shakeup.

OLED has intrested me for a while now, its potentially much cheaper than conventional LCD technology and better in many respects. I'm glad to see it getting more attention, i think we'll be seeing this slowly take over the mini screen world on things such as mp3 players.

SED, we'll we've been hearing about this for quite some time, it seems the best bet right now. The possible ultrabright LED competion is simply too expensive and runs far to hot to really be much competion any time soon. And with SED screens due to hit the market as early as next year i think they will take off.

on a good side note....prep for a plasma price drop...hurrah!

    -------

As for cannon and Toshiba....they are too of the best build quality companies there are in there own domians, the joining of these two giants is gunna cause alot of worry in camps like Sony (who to be fair produce some pretty good stuff....expect when it comes to audio....its been decades so far and they've still never managed to really compete with high end recievers).

Count me among those who only buy Canon, I love and actively promote their stuff when someone comes to me about a camera. Hell, the SLR I bought my fiancee was a Canon, and now she's hooked too. I'd love to hang a Canon tv on the wall, and wire it up for my digi pics when not watching anything.

    Any mention of PC displays?

    Go Canon!

I bought a Nikon Digital D1H when it came out as I felt they had better technology and equipment than Canon. After a few years of using it I was thinking about upgrading and for the heck of it decided to try out the new EOS 20D from Canon with their IS lenses in the store one day. The next day I had all my Nikon equipment on ebay and I haven't regretted it since. I'm now a vocal Canon supporter to anyone who wants to listen.

Will I buy a TV from them? Depends on price and since they're new to this arena, a little time for them to shake the bugs out. But, if it ends up at the same level as their cameras, then yes I would have them at the top of my list as a TV vendor.
