Just a few days ago I got all the parts I needed to upgrade my computer. So I put it together and turned it on and it started fine, but then I tried to install the 64 bit version of windows and that's when problems stared it would get about 20% through the 2nd step of the install and then it gives me an error. Then I called Microsoft support and after an hour still had nothing and moved on to a more temporary Linux based OS and still got errors with Ubuntu and Linuxmint. And here I am, with an i7 3770k prosesor, gigabyte z77 mb, 4x4gb corsair vengeance ram, and a 1tb hdd unable to install any OS. if anyone has any idea on how to fix the problem it would be very nice thanks.
Can you try a different dvd drive? Or a different cable on the dvd drive. Seen faulty optical drives cause problems with installs even if they seem to work elsewhere. Sent from my Orange Monte Carlo using Tapatalk 2
I'd agree with that, seen old DVD drives migrated into new builds that just failed to install anything from them.
I guess you tried to install Linux Mint from a USB drive? I would try swapping out the SATA cable of the HDD, I've had SATA cables in the past go bad which I thought was impossible but in fact system stability improved afterwards.
run a memory checker as well, sometimes duff memory causes it, oh and try with just 1 stick of memory as well
May be a silly statement, but if you suspect DVD drive, try using something like WinToFlash to create a bootable USB drive and install that way... Obviously if it's SATA cables than it's a bit pointless... May be a way to get moving with your set up.
Well by taking out the graphics card and most of the ram it finally installed but now I have a new problem. After installing all the stuff that came with the MB I restarted it and it wouldn't start. tried again and it opens startup repair and asks if I want use system restore but it won't read the mouse so I can't say yes.
This is starting to sound more like a memory issue, than anything else. I assume you've tried every stick on its own using a memory testing application. Like Memtest86+
Did you try running a Linux os from a live cd? No installation required, but would test your hardware?
