I've been trying to install Ubuntu on my main computer as a dual boot with XP, however whenever I try to live boot from the cd (Both 6.06 and 7.04) I get a error:
Kernel panic - not syncing: IO-APIC + timer doesn't work!

It tells me to try booting using "noapic" which I've tried, I still get an error. Anyone know what I need to do? Is this something in my bios? I've installed Ubuntu on this machine before, and never had this problem. :waah:

check your media? run a check on the MD5

Has anything changed with your setup since the last time you tried Ubuntu?

Download the 7.04 image from a different mirror and burn it at a slow speed just to be sure.

Just to clarify, When I press f6 for boot options, do I add this to the end of all the stuff there? Or do I erase all the info that shows up in the boot options box, and just put this?

Hmm, look at what the line is saying, if there is noapic and noacpi on it allready, just hit enter, otherwise you should probably add it to the end.

If all else fails you can download the alternate CD and an ncurses install
