Dunno...but he's done a couple other weird things too, like putting covers on his serial ports and covering a retail (so I'm assuming safe) PCB with hot glue. Maybe he's obsessed with safety?
actually those covers looks nice in my opinion... I thhing they also act as shielding.. have seen those before.. but they are MOST used as dirt protection.. as for the caps i guess it's for HDD's or something that requires much power at startup...
Would caps make it possible to have an inverter connected to the same molex as a hard drive without having the computer restarting whenever you turn the inverter on/off?
BableFish translated some stuff, but where's the part about the caps? I assume that the hot melt glue on the sound card caps is to reduce the noise. And that the caps is to smoothen the power to the DVD and the HDD?
From the way the caps are wired, it looks like he has intended tham as decoupling capacitors, for smothing out the power. Total overkill in my opinion, since there are decoupling caps at the other end of the wire in the PSU and almost certainly in the device he is connecting them to. Perhaps he intends to put the PC somewhere with a lot of radio frequency interference, hence the caps and the shielding. Dunno why the hot glue though.
