Hey, get more pictures of your car here and what you doing with it. we like to learn from your work as well What's in the hood? Most, if not all common desktop HDD will pretty much unable to work below 0C. based on a Google report on HDD survival, more HDD tends to die faster in colder environment... < 5C if i remember correctly. maybe using an actual notebook with display output to 2nd screen? This is the CF card i use... 8GB Transcend Industrial Ultra Speed CF Card +- US$230 http://www.transcendusa.com/Products/ModDetail.asp?ModNo=175&SpNo=2&LangNo=0 It is very expensive but it's for the car and actually much tougher than a SSD. - Op. Voltage: 3.3V/5V - Op. Temperature: -40°C(-40°F) to 85°C(185°F) - Durability: 10,000 insertion/removal cycles - Endurance: 2,000,000 times - Manufactured with brand-name SLC NAND Flash chips for extra long life and stability - Conforms to CF Type I standards - Data transfer rate: 25-40MB/sec(Max)* - Supports Ultra DMA mode 0-4** - CompactFlash 4.1 compliant - Built-in hardware ECC technology for detecting and correcting errors What is expensive on this 8GB Industrial CF is also due to having a more advance NAND controller IC in it. SanDisk's Shanghai R&D lab has some interesting SSD stuff which address 1st gen SSD issues. can't wait for them to market.. maybe in 12-18 months. besides playing the multimedia stuff, i like to log vehicle performance data and 4-6 camera angles in real-time, possibly an IR camera. if you know anything about Head Up Display (HUD) stuff, let me know. once, I tried running XP on a flash drive with virtual memory ON and it died in about 2 weeks. happy new year.
so in the winter i would have to wait for it to warm up in the car then? hmmm, well, not really a viable option as the trips in the car in the winter are usually short. but the rest of the year should be fine. thanks for the info.
Well I got the slow version of the eclipse which really isn't that slow but it's no race car. I have the 420a engine found in the GS/RS model as opposed to the 4G63 in the GSX or the 4G64 in the GS-T. The mods that have been done in the engine department are full 3" exhaust and cold air intake. I'm going to keep the intake since it doesn't hurt anything but I want to put the cat back into the exhaust to quite it down a little. It sounds great and it was professionally installed but it is WAY to damn loud. So First I'll throw the cat in and maybe just swap the whole thing back. After I get the interior and sound system done I'm going to rebuild the engine and strengthen it for a turbo so I can hopefully get around 300whp but that's a few years off and is something I want to do when the car is no longer my Daily driver. Most of the mods on this car will be cosmetic which unfortunately puts me under the term "ricer". But hey I'll be driving a good looking clean car that gets 30mpg
