A while back I decided to see what my case would look like with carbon-look film on the side panels, mainly because I had a couple of scratches in the panels and the film covers them up. I got a digital camera today so I can finally post some pics of the result. I think it turned out OK.

Here's how it used to look:

And here's how it looks now:

The rest of the case looks grey in those pics, It's actually black and suits the carbon really nicely.
    What do you think?

Looks schweet. I see the side panels aren't the only thing you updated since those last pics! :D The cooling is a nice addition too.

More about the water setup here: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10783

It's only carbon effect film, not real carbon fibre so it's not that expensive.

damn! i didn't think anyone else had the idea too.... :D

i plan to do it when i get a really nice case, not the cheap one i have for experiments now. (the one i'm on is my parents'. ;) )

this was heat-applied, right? because that's the only way i've seen, if you're talking about the same stuff. i'm thinking about ultra-cote.

Actually, I wouldn't make the whole case carbon. I like the 2-tone effect. Really nice to have both textures and both in black. I've even wondered how it would be to cover the interior of a case in carbon. Be a real bizitch to get it done tho...

I been wanting to experiment with some carbon, but too many things ahead in the priority queue. I can see it turns out real nice.

You need a G4 with onea dese and some nickel plated ram sinks to finish that rig:

BTW, I like these guy's carbon:

It adds a very nice "industrial" look to the case

yeah right! it's too bright grey looking! the fibers look too far apart! i've handled enough carbon fiber to know at least that! (R/C plane landing gear, props, etc.)

but that film DOES look like it.

Dude, you gotta get some broader carbon fiber experience. There are many different weaves. Cars (as in real cars, not toy R/C cars) use a much coarser weave. It yields a better cosmetic effect. My Porsche Turbo S has this look for the dash, steering wheel, and various other bits. Very cool!

On Ferraris, like the F40, the weave is even coarser. In fact, you can see the ripples from the weave in the paint of any F40.

A weave that's too fine loses the overall cosmetic effect of the pattern. As for color, it's pretty hard to judge from digital pix.

    Enjoy!

    heh, i know i do.

(but the cars i've seen in real life with carbon-fiber hoods have it like that film)
