I am looking to replace three of these ANTEC Case Fans in my current setup. They are speed controlled by my PSU so run fairly quiet but at the speeds they run at I don't think they shift much air :duh:
Could anyone advise me on what a good replacement would be, I will hopefully run at least one (If not all!) from the motherboard variable controller and perhaps the other if required from the PSU.
I am not concerned about LED's in the new ones, just want them to be as efficient and quiet as possible...

    TIA...D-an-W

80 mm fans 3x These are good fans and
this will allow you to control the speed and sound levels of the fans. If you can go 120mm.

Sharkoon fans are indeed quiet good. You need to read Custom PC's latest issue, they did a massive fan test.
Depends on you're hard drive :p

yes, indeed. Plus I asked about that at silentpcreview froums a while ago, and the guys over there made some interesting observations. I would link it, but SPCR is currently not loading in my browser so I'll linky as soon as its working for me again.

    EDIT: linky http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=32919

Just to point out, CustomPC's latest fan test had quite a few flaws according to the guys over at SPCR forums, the basic jist I got from what most of the guys there were saying was, the testing CPC did is innaccurated and biased towards certain fans(not saying intentionally, just the way they tested favoured some designs and not others).

Check out my thread here also, if you're intrested in quiet fans.

These seem to fit the bill quite well and would give me a bit of colour similar to the ANTEC Blue LED ones I have now

Are these fans really that quiet at the full 12 volts as I am waiting on the arrival of my Seasonic M12-600 PSU from Germany to see what (If any) fan control it includes as the P5N32 SLi SE Deluxe MoBo only has one Fan Header that has a variable output. I have used two fans off one header in the past however, is this ok?

There's no fan that moves a lot of air quietly. Low-noise fans run at low RPM, low RPM gives low air flow. The Antec fans claim 34cfm @ 30dBA; the Sharkoon linked 22.7cfm @ 17dBA so it's shifting far less air.

Some fans are better than others at a given RPM by bearing design and build quality, but if you want very low noise you have to put up with lower flow and higher temperatures.

Best solution is bigger fans, 120mm rule.

The Antec ones are by no means running at full speed now, I guess I could stick the Fluke on there and see what voltage they are getting...
