Hiya all, iam in search of a new case. There are some things i would like this case to meet, i would like it too one look presentable two be easy to move to lans ect without slipping a disk in my back all suggestions will be helpful Cheers Richman
we need more information eg how many hard drives? how many 51/4 " bays do you need full size mobo ? stuff like that
erm yeong yang cube Y0221B seems the obvious choice, t'is indeed a beast of a case with *lots* of things to mod, a perfect blank canvas, not as light as the alu towers though there arent really that many cuba cases around, i saw an alu cube somewhere, cant remember, but it was as ugly as sin, and had a billion fan holes in it, looked daft
kustompcs used to have them but they dont seem to at the moment they can be quite difficult to find in the uk and tend to be around £150+ i got mine from www.rackmountpro.com in the states for $150+$30 shipping (around £95 total at the moment) so you would check if they have them still and if they will ship to the uk i suppose, even if they charge you an arm and a leg for shipping it wont work out too bad given the exchange rate
The problem with most cubes is their size. The majority of them (yeong yang especially) are friggin' huge, and you said you want to be able to bring it to LANs without killing yourself. This is also not helped by the fact that since they are cubical by nature (hence the term "cube"), every side has to be the same size, so you're looking at a case that will be at least 12"H x 12"W x 12"D (since you want a full ATX mobo to fit). What's more important, the cube shape or being able to lug the case to LANs easily? If LANs are your priority, you can't go wrong with a Lian Li or Coolermaster mid-tower, or if you want to be able to do both, pick up a Shuttle (and sell the Abit mobo).
Antec LanBoy or Super LanBoy (more info here )...they're designed exactly for what you're looking for, and they're priced right in your range. Not sure where in the UK you'd pick one up, though. SharkBait
Forget all that. Just ask yourself one question: Do you like the Apple G5? Do you like its smooth curves? Its perforated aluminium goodness? Well, do you? "Yes", some people will now cry, BUT IT'S AN APPLE! I'M BUILDING A PC! And there's NO WAY I'm going to pay up for a G5 case just to have to convert it..." Well thanks to Lian-Li, you don't have to. This one comes from the good guys at nokytech.net: They are the V2000, and V2100 respectively. They come in ATX and BTX format. No, they're not yet listed on their new site, so don't ask about the price... but knowing Lian-Li it will be reasonable.
