Hi, everyone. I'm looking into making my own case, completly custom but I want to know what kind of screws are used in a normal ATX generic case. My hard drive says on to use 6-32 UNC screws, is it the same for the cd-rom/writer? Also, is this just the screw size and not the length, or is it both? What size/type screws are used for case fans, like the one in the back of the case? Motherboard standoffs, and the screws that go into them? What about the screws that hold the psu in place? I'm hoping you can use one size/type of screw throughout the entire case... I'm from Canada too, if that matters.
Some electronics or computer stores (like Maplin or PC world in the UK) will sell sets of assorted standoffs & case/drive screws. Try this ebuyer US.
well case fans use case fan screws u can buy packs of 4 for 1usd or u can use a bolt if u want to add grommets or "fan silencers".....mobo stand ect, radio shack is your friend dunno if they have them up there all the screws seem to be the same size accept for the cdrom a hdd drive screws but keep inmind that there is no standard diferent mobo risers will accept different screws. i have a box of screws and what ever fits is what i use velcro is also your friend it is silent and removable
