Still but the order together and doing last minute checks when I had a look at the case I want: Streamcom FC10 Black Full Aluminium Chassis

I also thought I would go for the Seasonic SS-460FL 460W Fanless Power Supply as a PSU but then I read the part on the Streamcom page where it mentioned a nano150 psu and now I'm worried the case can't hold a normal PSU but can't seem to work out if it does or doesn't... i don't think a 150w psu is going to cut it as I want to run a tv card, soundcard and Sapphire Radeon HD 7750 off of my old gaming rig mobo and cpu: Intel Core i7 860 2.80G s1156, Gigabyte P55M-UD2 Mobo

any one know for sure? what power rating do you think i need to run? - no overclocking obviously.

Yeah that case will only work with a Pico-PSU and an external power adapter, similar to a laptop adapter so your limited to around 150w, which I think is nowhere near enough for your rig.

anyone know a passively cooled htpc case that can take a psu... it does need to be quite a slim model to fit in the shelf i want it to go in.

hmm modding... not quite been brave enough to go there yet... worth a thought though as I can't for the life of my find one that will and will fit on my shelf.

How slim do you want the case to be?
Maybe easier to get a bigger low profile heatsink and run a 120mm fan on it. This will be very quite if not silent... is your 7750 passively cooled?

Ok, in which case is there a way to get 2 nano psus and have one dedicated to the 7750 (if it has a pcie power connector I am not actually sure).

the 7750 is passively cooled with a bit of a large heatsink! Sapphire state it needs a 400w psu... think the case needs to be close to 10cm (from memory have been sorting this out for awhile now!)...

think i'm gonna have to downgrade the gfx card to get a case that fits the space... just when you think you have all your specs sorted out... :(

ok now i'm confused... sapphire say the Sapphire Radeon HD 7750 Ultimate AMD Graphics Card needs a 400w psi but scan state that it has a maximum gpu power of 55w... i take it maximum power is something different to the amount of power it requires?

55w is what just the card alone draws. Sapphire recommend a 400w PSU for the whole system.

Also companies love making you buy a higher wattage / more expensive power supply :grr:

    This.

Check out some reviews of your graphics card and processor to see real power draw numbers. My guess is that 150W might be just enough.

edit: The i7 860 is a 95W quad core... With this in mind, 150W might not be enough after all. Also, are you absolutely sure it can be passively cooled?
