I posted a while back with an idea for a 'Tron' style case window, but after thinking it through, realised it would be too difficult to do (very complex). Well, I've simplified the idea a bit, but was wondering if anyone knows of a UK supplier of UV reactive film/sheet (a bit like those lamp gel sheets that people use to change the colour of their VFD - but would glow under UV)? I had a quick look at uvgear.co.uk, but the closest thing they sell is 2mm sheet, which is too thick (I just need film), and only comes in 1 colour (blue/purple - I need blue and red). Basically, the film is cut into various Tron style shapes, and somehow stuck onto the case window (may even sandwich it between 2 sheets of perspex). With the UV off, it would just look like normal, see-through film (maybe not that see-through because of the lack of light in case), but with the UV on, it would glow, but still remain see-through. I'm pretty certain this stuff exists, I just don't know where I can get hold of any...?! Any ideas? cheers
uhh... remember those colouring books ..... i just read your post, and had a thaught.... if your doing a tron design, thats basicly lines with circles on the end yeah? (god even talking about tron designs makes me think of the tron el-wire guy and his.. uh... 'special' uniform). aaaanyways. you want something to do that kind of design and glow under uv light? i was browsing in the store today for a new lock and saw a UV security marker kit, like a UV reactive marker pen, and a little battery-powered blacklight thing. couldnt you just take the marker and draw on the designs? might be worth a look as they are fairly common, and cheap too, and you even get a blacklight at the time i saw it i thought it would be something to try on a window to make some cool designs or something. i dont know how clear it would be, but its designed not to be seen under normal light, and glow under UV. might be easier (and cheaper) to draw the design onto the window rather than find, source, cut and stick fiddly bits of film onto it. origonally they caught my eye cause i thought of tracing over the tracks on the motherboard/cards with it, and 'colouring in' the tops of the chips, but i couldnt see one with a nib thin enough for mobo tracks, and im not too sure how conductive the ink is. worth a look, even if it doesnt work on the window, you can postcode your pc incase someone nicks it
I did think about using those pens, but I don't think they'll come out well enough (probably too 'wishy washy'). I have given it a lot of thought, and I think the sheet would be the best option. It'd be a pain in the ass to cut out, but would look so much better.
