Great work and nice idea to do that front design, Do you have a router?.

The thing i like is that its being all hand done, makes me feel jeleaous using machines.

Nice tennoning also, and making furniture all day is fun, but making a pc case is better i think :D

This looks awesome. You are a true craftsman. I bet that timber cost a lot of money

    PabloFunky,

Thanks and yes, I do have a router and a fairly well equipped shop. However, I prefer to use hand tools when building cases. I used the router to plow out most of the field and then used the chisels for the detailed work.

Beautiful inlay work!:D I'd be too afraid of that inevitable moment during the test fit when you get the inlay stuck part-way in and you can't get it back out. :worried: Did I just have a flashback?

    Cheapskate,

Yup, had that moment... twice. Everything fit perfectly and then.... ahhhh.... it would not budge. I carefully pried up one of the sides. Did not want to risk a corner and finally got it out. A few tense moments on that one.

This is really nice... I´m a bit new to woodworking and furniture making and you make me wanna go further. You are handy with those chisels man. Hardwood does the trick every time! I´m onto this!!

    quizz_kid,

Sputnick 0667 is AWESOME! I love the design. When I saw the ads I thought that actually from the 60's, then I saw your drawings! Truly impressive. Well done!

With inlays and badges etc, i tend to drill a hole in the rear of the part it fits too, then if it gets stuck or lodged at an angle, i dont have to prize the edges up, i can usually knock it back out from the rear (that sounds a bit sexual oops).

Pfaffen, been looking at your older logs, very nice work, hadnt seen them before, as i havent been a member here that long.

Well spent a few hours in the shop today. I was milling up the Holly for the inlays on the legs as well as setting the grooves for them. Lets see... four legs, eight sides, 16 vertical grooves and 16 horizontal grooves.

Here is shot of the setup at the bandsaw to resaw the Holly.

I cut six 1/16" thick slices.

Here is my test leg. I played around with the distances until I found one I liked.

Here is a shot with the Holly in place.

    Getting my groove on.

Here is all four legs ready to receive some Holly.

Well spent most of the day stringing the legs for the Federal Cellarette. To help, I built this inlay station. It allowed me to bevel both sides of one edge, then trim it with the homemade cutter and then cut the angles with the block on the left which gave me both left and right handed angles.

Here is a shot of the inlays before they are trimmed flush.

Clamped it in the vice and started to finish it. now I know why they call it stringing. Look at all those curls.

Here are the four legs... Two are done and two need to be finished.

    Waynio,

Thanks... The lego build was for the Canary Mesa and for my brother. It was a lot of fun to storyboard it and then shoot it.
