I've read a lot of times where someone suggests using the LCD of a handheld TV. I've got a Casio TV (Model EV-550B). I want to have it do stuff like winamp visualizations, song info, cpu usage, etc. anyone know where there's a guide or something explaining how to use the lcd?
Well, it's got an antenna to recieve the signal, and the only things visible from the outside are the earphone jack and a jack that looks just like a earphone jack but says audio/visual.
you can use a standard stereo phones to dual rca type jack (like you would use to hook your stereo up to a walkman) and one of the jacks will be composite in, the other mono audio... (Try them out, Not sure which color is which on the standard ones) I have one that has yellow and black, yellow for composite video and black for audio. You can use the S-video out of most video cards to drive this, just use a s-video to composite adapter(easily made with a 470pf cap across the signal and level of the s-vid, pair the grounds, and output the signal output after the cap)
look dude its not that hard use some common sense 1. get s-vid plug the adapter into the computer via svid then plug it in the tv(try both if you dont get a picture unless you know which is video) 3. turn svid-out on on your computer 4. turn tv to input you get the point its not that complicated! if you still cant figure it out, well sorry to be mean but its really not that complicated look at Pflumingo's that should help if you cant figure it out.........
If I set that as my output, then it would just replace my monitor, I want it to be an lcd with stats, winamp info/visualization, etc.
I think a useful suggestion would be to use a PCI vid card with video out on it. I've got some old cards that have s-video and even one that has composite. You shouldn't have much trouble finding one and they're cheep.
I've got an all-in-wonder 9700 and i think it supports dual displays. i looked up on the casio web site and i see what type of cable you're talking about....it has 1 black wire on one side and a yellow and white on other end.
It most certainly does support multiple displays - especially if you connected the s-video out. This is simpler than it sounded at the top of this page i must say. GFX S-Video-> S-video-AV cable->LCD TV
If you have a Radeon 9700 all you need to do is use the TV-Out as suggested. Set the second monitor in display control pannel to "extend the windows desktop onto the monitor" and you can display ANY program you want on it just like another monitor
Look behind all your windows, It always comes up with a box "is it ok to keep this setting?" if you don't say yes, it reverts back... This box pops up BEHIND my display properties sometimes.
Just it was worth mentioning that UltraMon is a great program for multi-monitor setups. Not sure if it will recognise the dual display properties of ATi cards as two displays or not but it should. It's pretty useful since it allows different resolutions on each monitor, seperate taskbars, maximising to fit single monitors etc. www.realtimesoft.com
