-Unfortunately my host server is down, so no pics right now but i will add them. -This may get a lil hard to describe without the picture, but here we go. -In my case I have a pci slot support bar, that runs next to the pci slots straight up. -This bar is a 3-sided hollow peice of metal, that just so happened to be the exact height of my cold cathode. -So i stuck my cathode inside (stealthing my cathode) and it looks great. -However my cathode is Tri-Coloured (Red/Blue/Green from top to bottom) -Now these colour merge a bit and while still looking good they create a bit to much white light. -While experimenting i wraped a square tube of cardboard around the 3 side hollow bar that holds my cathode. -I can now choose to block anyone colour. -Currently i block the blue in the center and it looks truely amazing. -However i am slightly worried how hot the flat side of this cardboard will get, its basically touching my cathode...and i dont want any nice smokey special FX.
They produce very little heat, try rubbing your hands together, less than that. Or if you really wanna know, leave your pc on for two hrs or so, and pick the ccfl up, trust me, it wont be hot, maybe a bit warm. (defintly not enough to burn cardboard)
Look forward to seeing some pictures, but if you can see the thing from outside the case_ "CARDBOARD" . Why not make up something from plexi or aluminum or something. Your buddy MS
Plexi would eliminate the point of using it to block light m8 Besides i moved it to inside the metal support so u cant really c it unless ur looking for it. so all is good easy and cheap.
yup....cardboard all the way! i mean cumon...i stelthed my drives using bluetak. I gotta be the cheapest modder on here
