Apparently these CD's with the protection on them which have gone down about as well as the proverbial chocolate fireguard can't be called 'CD's.. They should have a warning on the label apparently somewhere as well, look out for it. The worst thing will be when they manage to fix the problem with normal CD players, then computer based CD players will be at their mercy. Hmm, I wonder if these monstrosities will play in a PS2? Now that'd be an interesting case.
i can't really understand all the work that record companies put into creating 'uncopyable' CD's. All music CD's can be copied. FACT. due to the fact that the CD's contain sound, therefore there's always an opportunity to copy. If you have a decent hifi and a decent soundcard you can connect them together with optical cable and there will be no loss of quality. The record companies should just give up IMHO. thb
I think the same thb, stop making us fork out more money! They are spending massive amounts, and its all going to waste, as there is another technology around the corner that will do the job just as well!
good on phillips to deny them the CD trademark and the record companies couldn't stop ppl even if they spent every cent trying
OMFG that's a piece of piss to overcome. line out from hi-fi into sound card and do direct sync. recording. Ta-da more mp3s for yrs to come..
grrrrr @ the music industry as a whole. idiots, they'll always be some way around it - they cant win whatever they do!!
damn you Kna heh, I came to the forums to post this but Kna beat me to it. DAMN YOU Anyway, this is a big crock-o-sh*te by the record co's and I am glad Phillips is standing up to them. Heh, they probably see it as a business opportunity, cuz as soon as they figure out how to circumvent this they can sell their drives with "Fantastic Uber CD-RW Keeping the Rights Intact for All Audio and Duplications Made Constitutionally Allowable" technology, abbreviated F.U.C.K. the R.I.A.A. and D.M.C.A. technology   And lol, not only is it easy to circumvent using audio CD player into computer, but companies could upgrade the firmware in their CD-RW's to compensate for it. The recording industry better get with it, cuz unlike the days of the transition to cassette tapes people now are well-informed and know what they are up to!!
it would be easier to subcribe for 10 bucks a month and get unlimited downloads to anything we want. That way they can make their cash and we can get decent quality mp3's
black beard ok u know i dont agree with this ****, I dont pay 4 ware,mp3,movies, but the fact of the matter is I work for a cd/dvd manufacture authoring/mastering the latest releases - on dvd were using css, macrovision encryption which is an easy crack [keys are online, jus look] the crap that BMG are using at the moment ["midbar"] will corrupt ur burnin ware - its loaded with trojens.. SAFEDISC throws up errors when coppied.. stopgap answer is run a linein from hifi 2 pc beta will be ready soon 7
brutal that sounds good... but inevitably too good for the consumer (in the eyes of the record companies) even if they could be persuaded then they would probably set quotas etc, and the price of bandwidth would be quite high, but that'd balance the cost of not doing shiny jewel cases with fancy printing and physicalcds, transport etc.
