I have problems with my computer and maybe someone out there can offer some advice.

Suddenly my XP operating system cannot recognize my disc drives. I have two. Pysically they are there. But my OS under "My Computer" says they are not there.

What steps would you do to fix this?

Frist of all, let me confess that I did take the lid off the cpu case and I took out, and replaces some memory on the motherboard. But when I did this, I do not think I was anywhere near the wires for the CD drives. In any case, isn't there something to see in the BIOS to show something is not recognized.

    Re

I run Vista and I had this exact same problem about a week ago. The above solution DOES work, I did it myself. Apparently, this is an issue that has been hiding withing the depths of Windows source code for a while.
