I over clocked my cpu earlyer and it wouldnt start up so i had to reset the cmos. When i got back up i realised my cd drive dont work but the activity lights on all the time ? do i need to insttall drivers somewhere or summut ?
could we have a few more details ? did u o/c by the fsb ? and by how much if you did...? fsb effect all hardware, and if youve gon too far...boom cd writer as wel...although cd writers crappin out are relitivly rare... make sure however that in your bios all setting are correct as you reset it. also that all leads are in Jono
well i overclocked it to 140 fsb (from 133) and it crashed going in to windows so i reset went back into bios and set it back to 133 then when i exited the pc would power up but nothing would show on monitor. Thats when i reset cmos, so i got back on but now it doesnt detect a CD drive
If the drive doesnt appear in My Computer then probably the configuration for the IDE bus has been changed by resetting CMOS. Try deleting the IDE controllers from device manager then rebooting.
ok i didnt need to do that. Im going to sound like an idiot now, I had the IDE cables in the wrong sockets I just switched them arround and w00t i dunno how it was working earlyer? I cant run any faster than 138fsb somthing doesnt like it any faster ?? i think it might be my sound card its only a sound blaster 128 ?
my temps are about 45'C but ive just got a new Heat sinc (akasa silver mountain 2) but i forgot to buy a shim so i cant put it on till i buy one oh and i reach 49'C at full load
