When i had put the cd on my dremel it wasn't quite right on it so when @ 2/5 of max it went vibrating like a ***** and suddenly the cd vibrated from the dremel axle. So there it went down the stairs(tok, tok ,tok) and suddely plok PATS! kleng, what resulted in a snow of shiny paper and plastics

I may have to try this on a few old car cds that I have around here.... this looks more fun than trying to feed the paper shredder the old ones… :thumb:

Several months ago, after me and my friend saw the power labs video; we attempted to destroy a cd like that. We found it was much more fun to take the dremel outside and nudge the cd off the spindle at as fast a speed as we could manage. We waited for the road to clear and then let lose the cd. The cd shot over a block on the road before hitting stuff. It probably could have gone farther but it would not go in a straight line. Several times, the cd exploded as soon as it hit the ground. Quite fun attempting to find the cd after it had embedded itself in a hedge. :dremel: :dremel: :dremel:

Haha, It's amazing how the cds in the video on that site just keep spinning. One of them hits the door and the ceiling about three times

He shouldn't have done that. He should have sat outside their headquarters, with a Dremel :)

30 points if you hit middle management, but 100 if you hit a board member. :)

lcdguy: the hdd platters are metal so they're a bit*ch to break :)
and the cd drive's motor is a stepping motor i think (like in hdds) which makes it impossible for you to overdrive the motor unless you know which ics and resistors control the logic cycle for the motor and know which crystal to replace and with which other one to make it spin faster. tho it would prolly be fun :)

could you not just remove the platters from the drive and spin them up with a dremel or some other high speed motor?

A drive did indeed overclock itself because the PLL failed.

thats what i did, i took apart a old cd drive just for the plastic part that holds the cd. I drilled out the center so it was a little bigger and then put it on a super fast motor and kaboom! also, 52x is really a measure of data xfer rate, not cd rpm :D

i didn't say they would break did, i just said someone would do it. i would except for 3 factors

    A. Only have 1 Dremel
    B. Camcorder is in the Shop
    C. Parents dont approve, and since they control my net access

    but i wish i could cause i have like 12 - 15 12cm hd platters.

I can't believe anyone didn't notice this yet. Do you see any resemblance between what you guys are doing and a particular weapon in tribes?

    Hint hint... DISK LAUNCHER??

Someone HAS to make a CD launcher... lol, shoot it at cars.
