    wtf h4x!!

As far as i can see, it looks like its a "because we can" sort of thing

I really can't think of any use for it in real life situations, *maybe* for hardware reviewers or for someone that needs to test out a lot of processors/combinations.

That is a whole lot of amperage capability...

    :eeek:

It's a shame you cant actively reassign PCIe lanes on consumer boards, sorta lego brick stylee to fit the slots to your needs. Need a x2, put in an x2, need an x8, pop in an x8 - as long as it adds up to 32 lanes then itll work?!

I assume only server mobos have the x8 slots then.

afaik you may be able to bung one of those bad boys into the 'other' slot on SLI motherboards, which potentially gives me a tough descision in my next rig if motherboard designs dont change - do i need overkill graphics or overkill storage? :eyebrow:

    edit: linky http://forums.storagereview.net/index.php?showtopic=18757

    who knows?

theyre *supposed* to be used in server boards with 1 x16 and 2 x8 slots, but thats never stopped me :D

It's something id like to try out :) 3x 300gig Maxtor DM10+ in RAID 5 would be nice. MMmm hardware RAID storage - security & speed.

Makes me think that watercooling (and especially Dangerden) just went a bit more mainstream! Sounds like the waterblocks are extra, or you're gunna be paying $400 min for the setup. I'm surprised nVidia hasn't done the same thing. I hope they go with Aqua Computer if they do... I love those German blocks. ACTUALLY.... if I can get a BSPP tap and some thick green acrylic... you get the idea :D

Bindi you can put an x8 card in an x16 slot, and if the slot physically permits it (like some board, MSI I think, that's an openended x4 slot) you can put any card in any slot really. Like me formerly using a PCIX card in a PCI slot. Crap bandwidth and as a result performance but it does work.

Figure that once we get a chipset that supports like... 112 lanes of PCIE, then we can just have seven x16 slots on a mobo and it doesn't matter, although by that point graphics will probably use x32. The beauty being that the x16 cards some of us own now wouldn't need to be reaplced for that, unless of course it's for lack of power.

In fact, Coolermaster is releasing a whole lot of watercooling stuff... including some watercooling ready graphic cards.

But you want to see something really interesting? Do you, huh? Do you?

Then check out the new Coolermaster 830 (Stacker 2) :here:. Don't forget to klick on the name. :D

Yeah, saw that. One site managed to wrest some benchmark figures from the reps. The dual core displayed there runs at 2.4Ghz and is effectively the equivalent of a dual Opteron 250. Apparently it performed slightly better than a dual Opteron 250 in a comparative benchmark, but still dissipated only 115W. Which is nice. :D

Imagine two of there babies in your SMP bobo. Quad... hmmmm.... :brrr:

    BTW nice find, Leeum! :thumb:

I guess it might be a mistake or to avoid answering to many questions but the two GeForce boards installed in the board was also connected by the normal bridge (if you want I'll send a picture).

I found a very anonymous dual core Intel Extreme Edition running Cinebench2003 with HT enabled. I don't know if this is news or common knowledge but here are the numbers:

    Rendering scores:
    Single CPU: 247 CB-CPU
    Multiple CPU: 533 CB-CPU
    Times:
    Single CPU: 107 sec
    Multiple CPU: 49,6 sec.

You could compare with these benches of an engineering sample of a Dual core Opteron Here

We talked with the Intel guy who told us that the pricing would probably be around the current prices for Extreme Edition chips (But who knows)

As a side note an AMD guy told us that AMD didn't understand why Intel was pushing a dualcore desktop CPU, since they believed that the dualcores had a much bigger marked in the server area. Maybe he just said that because AMD is going for the dualcore Opterons. ;-)
