Hi I was thinking of trying some Astrophotography I have got a 1200d and was looking at the celestron travelscope 70 in currys for £50 would it a good start or is there something beter for roughly same price or slightly more http://www.google.co.uk/shopping/pr...9410486160446325&hl=en&ei=WUsyVfEQzNNop7eBqAc I know I need a t piece adapter Thanks any info apreciated John
Waste of money and the pictures will probably be crap. Get yourself a cheap 70-300 and add on a 2x tele-converter if necessary (even with the crop and 2x, it'll be better than any sub £300 telescope).
Thankyou I do have a canon 75-300 lens and a sigma 70-300 and a x2 teleconverter. But I thought a telescope made for it would be better
The optics on most telescopes suck until you get into the >£700 range and even then, they are designed to gather light for naked eye viewing. DSLRs can just keep their shutter open longer (to a point, even with tracking). If you haven't already done so, I'd recommend getting to a dark site on a night with really good seeing (low atmospheric turbulence) and find out the limitations of your existing equipment. Based on your location and a light pollution maps of the UK, west central wales seems to be your best bet.
