Had the junior hacksaw out again today - this time to the motherboard !! :naughty:
The Zalman HSF has its own backing plate which kind of interfered with gigabytes original plans for the DQ6 !!

So, out with the saw and a little sanding later !

Looks like it was made for the job and the Northbridge backing plates still there doing its job !!

The brackets are pretty close to the capacitors but it fits !!

A wee bit of sleeving and todays little update is done !

    Aaahhh! Smiley Fest!

Nice Wavemaster indeed! Why didn't you get the Scythe Fan Bay thing powdercoated aswell? And why a DSQ-680? You need a mobo with a black PCB!

Mankz, great minds think alike ! I screwed in the DQ6 and it just does'nt look right in blue ! I've decided to go with my Asus P5WDH that i have in the machine i'm using now and swap the boards out ! The DQ6 is the only thing that is'nt black or red so i agree it has to be swapped !! I was using it as i got it for next to nothing as an unwanted rma from someone (no warranty hence not scared to hacksaw bits off it) but its a great board and will serve me well in other areas !! The Scythe comes powdercoated, the case is anodised !! :naughty:

dude I'm very mad from you.. you hurt that DQ6 and now you throw it away :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :miffed: :miffed: :grr: :grr:

He's not throwin it away, he's just not using it in this project. He didn't 'hurt' it. Firstly, it doesn't feel pain, and secondly, that rear heat-pipe-cooler-thing-majig reall does f**k all. Its just like removing a stock chipset cooler and putting something else on there instead.

Should have some more updates soon dudes as new parts are arriving !! :thumb:

Ok ! 1st off i apologise for the time in getting this done ! I'm living in a hotel room at the moment (for another 3 weeks then new house !) so its been a task to get things done and i wont be able to use this beast till then either !!

I was thinking sli for quite a while but that card and heatsink is a monster and theres no room for two !

I sprayed all the pci backing plates and the in/out plate black to go with the theme.

The Zalman hdd cage comes in a fetching blue colour so out with the paint !

And here it is wrapped around a Raptor X

Some nice red tinted perspex on the 5.25 and 3.5" bays.

How to turn some AC Ryan mesh into a nice bay stealth cover along with rubber edging strip !

    And in situ !

    PSU + Perspex = shiny !

    Nearly done !

And turn out the lights !
