Now I know, this may seem like quite a strange idea, but I was wondering whether a slight change in the Rep system. The only thing I have issue with is how quickly one can get to "A reputation beyond repute." Now I'm not sure if there is anything beyond this, so I was wondering if there is a way to adjust the goalposts for different comments about Rep, maybe to separate the well-known from the infamous. Maybe it's just me - this is only a suggestion. Anyway, Many thanks, Blazza
This has been talked about for quite a while. The amount of reputation that gets tossed about in the general forum is frankly obscene and of no real value. Would be interested to see if anything actually comes of this, although I highly doubt it.
I wouldn't want to remove it, just make it more difficult to reach certain levels - so that rep becomes worth more.
No, it stops at a reputation beyond repute so both me and you (blazza) have the same rep as the mighty Bindi And I think that the text that goes with rep should be changed and more pips added to get to the higher levels. So instead of there being 11 pips, there should be 15. With the final 4 or 5 being ever more difficult to get except to those who are basically God (Bindi again lol). Maybe it'd be good to remove rep from most of the general section? Being funny shouldn't really give you more rep. As evolutionsic once demonstrated, even if you do one awesome general thread and get loads of rep from it, it does not make you a valued member of the community. Could rep from the general section be split from the rest? Like a 'helpful' rep and a 'funny' rep? Edit: oh and display actual rep count. The number we can all view in our user cps but no one else can view
This issue has been pulled up a few times. basically the way I see rep it's there for a bit of fun and to show that people appreciate you for what ever reason, be it for being helpful, modding or just a decent person. No mater how it was done, people would soon be filling up rep bars anyway.
If I had a rep point for every time this subject has been brought up I would have the most rep of all lol I seem to remember Blazza and noiz crying when they lost their rep lol Rep is pretty meaningless tbh theres been people with full rep and still rip people off, its just pretty green lights Oh and it doesn't stop at reputation beyond repute
Now you both know it doesn't stop at "Reputation beyond repute". You're both just obsessed with rep, you both cried when yours was taken away temporarily and banged on about nothing else for an entire weekend! And you'd have more than you do, greedy, if you hadn't got banned and lost it all Jeff is right (wtf?!) rep on this forum is entirely subjective so unless you can separate out rep by the type of rep given, ie for humour, modding skills, help given et all, it is meaningless essentially.
yeah general forum no one needs that, i have given it for what you listening to in the general forum or an awesome video I think really it should be given for tech help and such
Both me and noiz suffered from serious Rep withdrawal. It's a registered medical condition, you know. Srs me: I (and probably noiz) didn't mind losing the pretty green lights - it was just having it reset to 1, which was SOUL DESTROYING. /hyperbole
Carrie, I was actually not aware it went further than reputation beyond repute lol And I banged on so much about the lost rep because I felt it unfair that I should lose ALL of it due to a joke gone too far. Half of it, fair enough. But for a mod to take it all away without that much reason is an abuse of power given how small the initial infraction was in the big scheme of things. Why not just disable the rep button in the general thread? That would eliminate a lot of 'useless' rep. Oh and just in case anyone thinks I'm being harsh to Carrie about my lost rep, I am being. Purely because I'm in a foul mood and everything is p*ssing me off today.
We never used to have a rep system, it always used to be 'more posts - more trust worthy' - If you believe everything you read on the internet/forum, you are a very silly sausage. I dont think the rep system needs changing, its just a little bit of fun.
Maybe a clicky under your username "view users rep!" Then from there it could be something like viewing how much rep from each section? Such as... General: 14 points Market Place: 30 points Technology: 5 points Modding and Projects: 10 points Please note numbers are only used as examples Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
