Apple changing default apps to open file types OSX

    i'm having some real trouble doing this...everytime i select always open with this app, it opens that particular file, but it doesnt change the default app to open it. am i missing something here?i'm a complete OSX noob, and this is the first time i've even used apple, so an idiot's guide would be appreciated! :)

    You can right click and select get info to change the app from memory :)
