    Hey,

I'm sure this is correct, but anyway..:

Is it true that Vista now effectivly 'binds' to the motherboard and you have to tell Microsoft everytime you change motherboard?

If yes, then how would one go about contacting them and organizing the change?

Re-activate. If it fails, it will give you a number. Call. Wait about 25 seconds, tell them that you got a new board. They provide you with a new cd key. Use. Enjoy. Buy me a beer.

You can ship it to me, and I'll empty the bottle, and then ship it.

After I got so fed up of re-activating my legit copy of Vista without good reason, I installed a slightly dodgy version which didn't even squeak when I changed my motherboard. It just booted happily - I didn't have to reinstall or anything.

Edit: Yes piracy is wrong and all that. Pay for stuff! I do actually have the disk here.

Actually only the OEM versions of Windowses do that, not at all the Retail versions. Why do people then buy OEM versions? Because they're cheaper. And this isn't only limited to Vista, but to all Windowses.
