I am checking out the chat gpt add-ons for email. I could use help with all the follow-ups and more generic (yet somewhat personalized) emails I must send out daily. Generally, my messages tend to be a bit lengthy, so I want to try summarizing them. Are you using any of these? If you have a plugin to recommend, I would appreciate that.
At work we've been banned from using Chat GPT or any other Generative AI due to the high likelihood of incorrect answers being given. I'm not sure I'd trust it to write any kind of correspondence I'm personally responsible for. Although my typing is so awful it might be an improvement.
I have serious moral and ethical objections to the generative models & algorithms currently being touted as “AI”, as a point of principle I would never personally use these things in this capacity. However, this isn’t really the time or place for that discussion, so putting that aside for a moment to actually attempt to answer the question… Have you looked at Grammarly? I don’t know if it uses a GPT model, but they’re definitely leaning heavily into the “AI” buzzword bingo hype. From a brief scan of the homepage it looks like both Gmail and Outlook are supported, but I have no idea whether there’s any cost or licensing involved.
Thanks, everyone. I completely understand the potential issues here. The likelihood of incorrect answers exists, and generally, the way most people use AI for generating content is completely off, people just copy-paste stuff. I mean, of course, I'll read the generated answer and edit it if needed. But, that's another topic. Anyway, I'll run this with my colleagues from the IT department, I was going to anyway. I'm not going to use anything that's not approved by them. And of course, I'll check with my superior. Just wanted to find a couple of good candidates first, but I think this plugin will do.
