    Hi All,
I'm looking for a cheap backpack to hold my 1100D with 18-55mm kit lens, small external flash, a few lens caps, 300mm tripod and a set of extension tubes. It will need to have enough space to add a couple of lenses down the line.

    Roughly £20 ish to spend.

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks,
    Betty

Hmm personally I wouldn't count on a £20 bag holding a decent tripod, unless you mean one of those cheapo tiny jobs, or maybe a gorilla pod type thing? Try to avoid a sling bag/messenger bag, imho, as you'll feel the weight more in there. Irony being that I've got a sling bag, and I put that bag in my rucksack/backpack, just because it's more discrete, and more comfortable for long periods of walking etc. Also don't worry about getting something a bit bigger as you can always put a drink or other bits and bobs in there etc.

Hmmm. Looks like a nice bag. Budget is a bit tight though. I could stretch to £25 at the most...

@ betty; In that case go for the amazon basics one, it will be more than good enough for what you need.

I started off with a slingshot 100aw, which fits, dslr with kit lens, 70-300vr zoom lens, rocket blower, cards, etc, and flash. Otherwise substitute the flash for a prime in the top section.

Since I've had that bag, I've always made a point of not carrying all my gear with me. I/e 3 lenses, two zooms, and a prime. As I hate the weight of everything on one shoulder, I always have the sling bag in my backpack, so if I want the flash, I just throw that in there, in the flash's pouch that came with it.

In your case wyx, personally I can't see why you'd go for a 12-55 lens, and would suggest the 16-85 VR, or 18-x range lens. In most circumstances however, I'd leave the 18-x lens at home and roll with the 10-20mm, 35mm and 55-200.

sorry, typo. 18-55 kit lens. thanks solid advice. so looks like a medium sized bag will do. that AmazonBasic sure look attractive with room to spare.

    In case you haven't got these already betty, make sure you get;

a decent lens pen (for when you get a big ass fingerprint on there/ocean spray/dog nose etc etc etc)

Rocket blower to remove the odd dust bunny that will get on your sensor eventually and leave funky dots in your blue skies at smaller apertures (smaller i.e bigger number)

Card reader, even if it's a cheapo. I fried my D80 connecting it to a PC at an internet cafe, using the cable. Was fixed under warranty, but don't take chances.

I'm sure the Amazon Basics will do the job juuuust fine, but I'd feel a little uncomfortable with a few hundred quids worth of stuff in a cheap bag.

There's a Lowepro 100AW on sale - http://www.mpbphotographic.co.uk/used-equipment/used-bags-and-cases/ (2nd hand) for just under 30 quid which may be ok as a starter.

Recently sold a 220AW (if only you'd asked a week or so earlier!) - excellent bag, unlike Greg never had a problem with weight but he's got a lot more kit than me so his points are still worth considering.

With 177 positive reviews, I'm sure the amazon one would be fine. :)

Thanks for the replies guys. I think i'll go with the Amazonbasics bag for now.

Is there any point getting a microclean cloth if i have a lens pen and blower?

Eh, I'd see if you could pick one off a pair of sunglasses/glases lying around. Can't say I've neeed the cloth that often.

I've just noticed that 7dayshop has two backpacks as well, a similar version to the amazon basic one, and a semi clone of the lowepro fastpack type. both quite cheap, no idea if any good.

I ended up getting the Amazonbasics bag. I'll post some pics a bit later today. Maybe I'll do a mini review of some sort :D
