    Hi guys,

So I got a bonus from work and all the other stuff I do on the side is going really well and I was thinking of treating myself. Has anyone got experience with anything like this? I have juts bought my first android phone after being a longtime Blackberry user and I'm totally in love.

The specs are all brilliant, fast enough chip, capacitive IPS screen, big battery etc. But as we all know PC world pcs have great specs but they are let down by the things not in the specs, noise, heat, battery life etc. Anyone know what they're like to live with?

Please don't suggest I spend 3-4x the price on a brand name tablet. I know they're probably better but I simply don't want one that much. It'd be a fun gadget to mess around with, a toy and nothing more so I'm just not going to spend ipad money on one.

Any chap tablets other than that are heavy, have a bulky frame and a terrible resistive screen.
Simple enough to say: I don't know what you've found there, but 99% of the time, cheap tablets are not worth the money.

Personally I'd spend £200 on an Archos G9. Those cheap Chinese tablets look OK on paper but the reality is they are usually badly made, underpowered and unresponsive to use. Several of these tablets have so-called dual core CPUs that aren't true dual core. The manufacturers consider the GPU to be part of the CPU so class it as a second core.

If you really really want a cheap tablet they stay away from anything that has a Rockchip, Telechips or Xburst CPU. Make sure the CPU is ARM7, cortex A8 or A9 at least. Maybe even a Tegra2.

    Or just buy the Archos.

I was going to suggest all of the above, but got side tracked. Was still up at 5am. In anycase all cheap knock of devices from China end up being binned within a few months. My sister bought a Mini Iphone which died after 2 months. She was lazy and now it's a paperweight on my fathers desk at work lol

In this instance you pay for what you get. Like anything that isn't a knock off. You pay the right price and usually you get a decent product.

Unless you buy a PC from PC World :naughty::hehe:

Wow, well that's an overwhelming 'no' I guess! That Archos gets pretty bad reviews, says it's heavy and clunky. Does that bother you guys?
