    Hiya,

Looking to build a cheap alarm system for my uni house next year, and I need a way to communicate with the sensors wirelessly.

At work I've been using this awesome devices (LPRS EasyRadio), but at £10/£20 each, I can't justify the cost for at home..

Will be using PIC's on both sides, so all I need to transmit/receive is a high/low signal really...

    Suggestions?

can't be done much cheaper of you want RF , be an absolute nightmare to design the RF electronics for home made devices, you can't just run cable everywhere ?

Those are only receivers though, they need transmitters.

Have a look at Rapid, they do a Micrel pair, MICRF002BN & MICRF102BN, aerial in, data out. Plus some other RF ones.
