hey everyone, im new to the bit tech forum although ive been visiting for some time to read posts.

I need a new graphics card, my board only supports 4x AGP (if that makes any difference) im looking for a card that will allow me to play the newer games but i dont need a really high end card, somethin around £50 to £100, ive been looking at Ati's something like the 9600 but not sure which one to go for. As i say i just need it to play the games, i cant really afford a high end card so i dont need great fps.

thanks for any help in advance!

So the 9600XT is the one to go for with my price range. I dont wanna spend so much say on a 9800pro as the new pci express cards will be coming out, im waiting for those really to upgrade my whole computer but just to get me by (because i cant play any games with a radeon 7500 at the moment) i want a cheapish good card.

i'd go for a 128meg radeon 9600 pro if its only to tide you over.

I've got an AIW 9700, and I wish I would've spent the money on a faster card instead. I thought it would be better for video editing and stuff like that, but honestly, I don't think I've used any of the features that aren't part of the normal card (radeon 9700) :blah:

9600 should suffice fine for you. I got one for my brother and hes been pretty happy with it (though he annoys the heck out of me by keeping it at 800x600 with a 17" monitor!)

ok, right so the option for an AIW has been eliminated

so now i have to decide between the pro and the xt, should i really go the full hog and get an xt or just stick with the pro if im gonna upgrade in a few months?
