I want to buy myself a cheapo flat-screen (LCD/TFT/whatever they're called). By the way, what does TFT mean?
I'm thinking about a 15" (maybe a 17" if I can find one really cheap). The price I was thinking is about £160 / $300. Is it advisable to buy a screen in this price range?

thin film transistors i think, at that price range it depends on what u want if for, for office work a screen in that price range would be ok, but for games it's not gonna be great. keep saving if it's for games.

I'm not a gamer, it's mostly for websurfing and writing stuff in Word.

yeah something in that price reange would be fine then, next step is too look at each monitor companies policy on dead pixels (i think THG had a decent guide on tis) and also how long the warranty is on the monitor. u should be fine from there on ............

General rule of thumb is to buy the absolute best screen you can possibly afford, you'll regret it otherwise.
