Regarding the UV ink, I have no idea. My fellow tattooers have advised to stay clear.. nobody really knows what's in it.
But then again.. worry about that later!

    Tattooing is my other hobby.
I like it as much as computerrsss and stuff!

All work in a traditional style. Majority of tattooers very well known on the scene.

If you are thinking about getting something new, have questions about tattoos or what shop/tattooist to go to... just ask. I have spent months behind counters in tattoo shops and know tattooers all over England/Europe.

and here are a small number of the body..

Not exactly "new" as I have had this for 2 years already.

It's in old futhark writing, lines read downwards from the left.
    Translation:
Originally when I read it, it was quoted as being from someone called Dag Hammerskjold, whom I thought was some old viking of legend, turns out he was an EU commisioner!

Love the saying as I agree with it. Don't fear death, but live your life in a manner that you can look back and be glad at what you have done.

I chose the futhark script playing on being half-finnish and using that as the link to the use of it. I looked at using Ogham (oh-m) since I am also half-irish, but it just didn't look anywhere near as good.

As far as I am aware, vikings were never in Finland, but still :p

In my own opinion, if you get a tattoo, get something that means something to you. I have another one that says "loyal/faithful" as that is the kind of person I am. I can understand why some people get tats because they look cool, but I want something that represents something about me or means something to me personally. Because of this opinion, I am really unhappy about my brother who, although 10 years older than me, has recently gone through a mad spate of inkings and now has several religious symbols and he is in no way religious. It's stupid in my mind. Each to their own I guess.

Well, it's 2010, and I don't regret it in the least. It's not only a hell of a conversation starter, I now am working on my own game designs and it's a reminder of where I started and how far we (and I) have come.

I'm saving for my next, Mega Man X and Zero.

I'm wanting to get Pacman and the four ghosts up the back of my leg... Or maybe the first level of Super Mario Bros as a sleeve... haven't quite decided yet :p

It's also just over a year since I got my first tat. I look at it every single day and haven't had 1 bad feeling over it yet. Planning on getting a half sleeve (a spiral/wrap of earth, wind, fire and water) on my right arm in the spring/summer.

    Ok 2 questions

    1. do you know of a decent tattoo artist in or near ipswich who can do some DECENT cover up work to cover two old tattoos I got when i was a lot younger and drunk. (My first mistake was agreeing to be tattoed by someone called Old Blind Jack)

    2. Why do you have a tattoo of harry potters owl on your back?

Is it just me who thinks the actual work on the OP's tattoo is awful? I mean get the shield if you want, but get a decent artist. The Line work and shading is just awful. Looks like a child coloured it in with Block colours.

As for regret it when I'm older.... Nah not at all, its small and on my ankle... no one ever needs to even know its there if i don't want them to!

    Not bad at all.

Tats are really down to the person who gets them and not really anyone else. I do question certain ones, especially people who get religious stuff, when they are not religious in any way, it makes no sense.

    Nalaoc -
I am one of those people with religious stuff while not being religious at all...
to me (and Tatts are usually a highly personal) it's
    a) a matter of artistic style i like
    b) a matter of personal meaning that i have attached to things.

That tattoo I am showing above, for example is a deeply personal one meaning-wise. I had it specifically designed for me, and it's unique in that way. The religious inconnotations associated with it are deliberate, as they go hand in hand with a time in my life where I felt a certain way.

I would for example not be surprised at all to see someone with a crucifix on one arm and a pentagram on the other.
I'd assume, that, like me, that person made a conscious decision for those two symbols, and is completely aware of their meanings, contradiction, and possible contradiction with his/her own belief system. It's making a statement and capturing something that that person believes in on a deeper level tha tmight or might not be broadcast into the world through the tattoo

I've always had the opinion that if the "owner" of the tattoo likes it, Then what the hell does it matter what i think? :)
