Link I guess this is the first step to a proper Apple Based OS for x86 computers. The trial is free to download, just requires you sign up with a e-mail address. Edit just noticed the system specs: * PC with Intel® (Pentium®, Pentium M®, Xeon™) or AMD (Athlon™, Opteron™, Duron™) processor. Processor must be at least 1.6 GHz. * 512MB RAM (1GB recommended) * 5GB of available hard-drive space (10GB recommended) * CD ROM Drive
Lol, a mac running windows running osx. This should be good. I love iMovie. Wish they would bring out a pc version. I was very tempted to get a Mac mini but this may save me alot of money for a while.
The CherryOS trial download will allow you to boot OS X 14 times. After the fourteenth time the program will no longer function until you register a valid license key. Answer to the problem - never turn it off.
Is this a downloadabl thing? and how much does it cost for a license? I have a colleague who is apple crazy so i am sure that he will have some old os cds lying around that i can borrow.
It's claimed that CherryOS is based on "stolen" code from the GPL project PearPC. You might want to check that out before buying CherryOS.
Trial is downloadable and gives you "14 boots". Id recommend downloading the OS emulator install guide too. Didnt realise about PearPC - once i finish with CherryOS, ill try Pear
This is why I'd like to see performance figures for Cherry; IIRC it claimed to be able to emualte a G4 at 80% of the speed of the host. Pear PC can only manage about 40%. As for the rumours, they where more than that - people had proved that previous betas of Cherry had Pear code in it. That's why it was pulled and delayed until now. Maui claimes innocence, and got rid of the guy responsible, aledgedly. I posted about it last year.
