Problem is - Virgin - You'll be lucky to get 56k throughput on a populated area.

Never had any problems with speed when we were on Virgin.

    What this guy said.

Been with Virgin for nearly 4 years, with zero outtages and maybe only 2 serious slowdown incidents that were identified and rectified within 6 hours.

I live in London and I get 180mb on Virgin.

Anecdotal evidence on ISPs isn't worth a dime.

+1 for the "never had a problem with VM" crew. It might be a different story for those folks who get VM through non-fibre connections, of course, but I've been with them since 2004 and, with a few very minor outages excepted, always had a full-speed connection.

I think the biggest problem is not Virgin, but the issues caused by hundreds of people trying to access a single AP.

Another problem is that Chesham, while a nice town, is not exactly a bustling metropolis to demonstrate how well this will scale.

Ditto. I get 162Mb/s at home consistently with almost zero downtime. It ain't the cheapest, but I certainly can't complain about the speed.

    I'm with Virgin fibre

I live in a densely populated area, regularly get 152Mbps, very few outages in many years with them, what outages there have been you can count on the fingers of one hand with change left, and are fixed within an hour or 2 - I can only speak for my own service but wouldn't swap to any other provider

Same as above, I get 152 most days and have clocked 225 during off peak hours
