ah stuff it. i've been doing this thing for so long i might as well start a log.... unless nobody wants to read it, in which case i'll just go finda corner and cry :waah:

i also have to say that most of the things you'll see me doing to my case where my own idea. Later on i found out that other people have already done this.... only better, so i tried to adapt their techniques. All though i've forgotten who they are, thanks to you all for your great cases.

    anyways.
i started out with a black chieftec dragon case that i'd had for a while, always planned to do something with it but never seemed to have the time / money.
Anyways, i've been going at this for a little while now so i'll post the pictures in the order things where done.

SORRY FOR THE SIZE BUT I REALLY DONT WANT TO RESIZE THIS MANY PICTURES..... i'm lazy ^_^
but if someone tells me an easy way to do it, since i'm to to sure how then i'll be more than happy to do it.

    anyways on with the pics.

This is basically the case with all the panels of.

    top and botom panels off.

coming apart, rivets being drilled out
i'll just let you know at this stage that putting the case back together is going to be one hell of a bitch to do. I must have pulled out at least 100 rivets from this damn thing :hip:

The next thing i did was attack the rear fan holes, those stock holes where soo ugly they almost made me cry :waah:

After that i was planning on trying to make them into circles when i noticed a little sheet of acrylic sitting on the other side of the room and got an idea. I thought... why not make a little window

this is basically what i want to stick in there with some fan hole moulding around the edges to hide the shoddy jigsaw work  ..... but i ran out of the stuff... thats where the purchasing comes in :naughty:

I decided to get rid of the reset switch because i'm original and an individual *cough*
acctually what happned is that i got some bondo in it... and i decided it would be best (for god knows what reason) to get it out with our mouse sander..... baaad idea. The hole got very borked.

    aawww... i'm sorry :(
    dont worry though
theres quite a few other people who have done the same thing so far.
it's just a matter of personalising it a little.

Another thing i forgot to mention

to get these fan holes the way they are i had to get rid of the HD cages...... all my HDs are now in HD racks and now i have tonnes of room for a nice little water cooling setup.
which i dont have any money for :waah:

    bondo'd the top door today.
the pictures dont show what i'm trying to show with this bondo stuff.
what i'm trying to show is the perfect smoothness of this stuff after going at it with the mouse sander and how well it is flush with the rest of the case.
once it's painted i'm sure it will look great :worried:

i'm off to go get the paint now :hip:

this is what I had in mind to do with my case also...
just need to make a few more 100 pages of notes and think
about 1000 hours more... then I start my project.

it will be very interesting to see the result when u spraypainted the case :D

unless someone can suggest a better colour to go with my blue cc's

funny you should say this.... because other than the front panel.... i have done almost no planning whatsoever
So far it's just been.... "wtf can i do with this..... ooo i can do that"
then i go and do it. :naughty:
bit of a risk but it adds a certain spice to the fun :hip:

    Pfft...keep it black!

I know black with blue lights are overused, but that wouldn't stop me! I'd do whatever I like and think would look good, even if it's not original :p. Do whatever you want, but imo black is the best :D

    hmm...
yeah .. i do like black on blue
but iwanted to try something different this time.
plus.... if i do go black again then all the work i put into sanding of the black powder coating on the panels will have gone to waste :eeek:

Nahh, go with a mirror black finish. I think linear's site has a guide up on that :thumb:

I like the look of what you're doing, keep it up ;)

    link to linear's site??
    maybe I've seen it already.....

    anyway...
a blackmirror finish is what I thought of...
I just need to look up what it all costs... then I need to
do some filling on my front and then spray some...

I hope I can succeed as mostly the others who have tried
to make a mirror finish... cause it would be great :D

anyway... got any ideas for other finishes?
    blackmirror could be nice...
but also white could be nice... but it could get dirty pretty quick...
u know what I mean??

    http://linear1.org/ <-linear's site

but do a search on mirror finish or something like that and you will find a lot of mods...and i mean great mods and they explained how they did it....

you can find linear s guides in the case mods section of the site
