There's a Chinese lantern festival going on at the botanical gardens in Montreal at the moment. It all looks absolutely amazing at night and I fully recommend making a visit. Pretty easy subject to shoot as it's all so beautiful.

Beautiful. #13 is my personal fav, with the simplicity of the framing and depth of field. Very nice.

A nice set of shots - it looks like the scene was perfect for photography.

Having said that, I absolutely love #2. The simplicity makes the lamp really stand out, and I start to appreciate the design and and the lights and the shadows. Rather than having my eye jump all over the scene at all the pretty lights (which isn't necessarily bad, actually), I get to focus on one artistic element.

I think it would make a great desktop. The lamp sitting (or hanging, if you prefer) in one corner with everything else entirely black.

Beautiful shots mate! Did you walk around with a tripod or was it magically handheld? (If so, how?) :)

They were all hand-held, the majority (if not all) of them were at f/1.8.

Sounds like I need me a lens that will go to 1.8 :)

    Edit: Don't you mean 2.8?

They're 50mm so he probably does mean 1.8

    Nice!
I like the framing in #6, and like others have said, DOF in #13 is really nice.
