Let's play a fun game. I'll list my specs, and you guys can take part in the poll deciding what I should upgrade. I really can't make up my mind so I'll leave it up to public opinion.

Coolermaster Centurion ATX case plus Thermaltake 420watt PSU.
Proview 17" really old monitor with max 60hz refresh rate 1280x1024 res
    Giga-byte GA-K8NS-C 939 mobo
Athlon64 3000+ winnie that I can't get past 220MHZ due either to mobo or RAM
2GB Kingmax 3200RAM moderate timings <really don't want to upgrade!
eVGA 6800 vanilla unlocked fully with AC Silencer 5 Rev.2<starting to artifact though, even on stock clocks.
160 GB Seagate 7200RPM Hard drive.

So, there they are, what do yo think?

EDIT: Videocard means getting a new mobo as well, as its AGP and I'm not going that route anymore.

    Vid+Mobo.
The rest is fine, though the monitor could do with an upgrade if your not that keen on it anymore.
Depends if you live on games, if you do, then Mobo+Vid, if not, get a new monitor.

Wow, lots of votes for the monitor. I found a Hyundai monitor on Newegg....

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824179014

It has gotten some pretty good reviews, and the specs seem to be pretty decent.

I think performance wise the CPU would be the best cost effective upgrade.

I guess with a tie in the votes I have to decide monitor or vid card+mobo. Thinking monitor...

oops, didn't see that! Makes upgradability a bit easier, no need to change the processor.

well hi, i voted for monitor because whats the point of having a 6800, 3000+ A64 and 2 gigs of ram if your gunna start having epeleptic fits and migranes (sp?) because of that feeble refresh rate :blah: plus your max resolution is a tad low... but what do i know eh im just a girl :hehe:

If the mobo is AGP then upgrade the vid and the mobo but if it's PCI-E then RMA the videocard and sell it as NIB (new in box) for close to retail and upgrade to a 7800

Many people here frown upon fradulent RMAing...

Anyway - if you don't plan to change motherboard/graphics then I'd get a nice new 19" TFT. You're really wasting the rig with such a rubbish screen :(

If your video card is playing up even at stock speeds then i'd say it needs replacing.
Get a new card, drop your res down to 1024x768 @ 85hz and be happy again.

Buying a 19" lcd and trying to play at 1600x1200 with a dodgy video card and budget cpu just isn't worth it imo.

...No, in fact I didn't even read the whole thread... Take the shields down man, no need to get defensive.

And since when is a s939 AMD64 3000+ a budget CPU? A socketA Sempron is a budget CPU... And there's nothing wrong with that vid card, especially if he's got it fully unlocked. The artifacts being a seperate issue, the 6800 is a good chip, especially one that fully unlocks...

Now this is aimed at you: Stop being so defensive, and stop making irrational statements.
