Hi all, I was just about ready to order all my bits http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=168499 for a new pc but thought I'd review a few things first. I had chosen the Akasa Omega case after reading several reviews including: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cases/2008/08/14/akasa-omega-review/1 I really wanted a case with a removable motherboard tray and relatively easy fitting - being ham fisted and lacking a bit of manual dexterity these days the easier I can make fitting bits the better. However, I canme across this additional review http://www.custompc.co.uk/labs/238041/akasa-omega.html which really slated the Omega's cooling capabilities. I was going to add additional fans to compensate for this but I don't know if they will be sufficient so I'm now in two minds about ordering this case. I've had a look around at some of the other cases and quite like the look of NZXT's Panzerbox so may wait til that comes out before I go ahead and buy my bits. In the mean time can anyone recommend an alternative case for me (nothing to garish - I really like plain understated cases) around a similar price £125? Thanks in advance
If you are going to buy a new case in the future anyway, I would suggest a Coolermaster CM590 or CM690...
Just completed an i7 build with an Antec 1200 and it was a dream to work with. False floor and loads of room made cabling really sweet. Also has the under-stated looks you're after.
Thanks for input - how quiet is the 1200 I've also been looking at these cases: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/156829 http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Akasa-Eclipse-62-Midi-Tower-Case-Hi-End-w-o-PSU-Best-Seller http://www.tekheads.co.uk/s/product?product=607190 Anyone use any of the above? Thanks again
but the antec 1200 will completely cool any companants you throw at it and ive got my fans set at low and theres not much noise it pretty much quiet. every thing inside is extremely cool, i have stuck with the st ock fans they do a really good job
+1 Two of my friends have Antec 1200's and they are excellent cases. I have its little brother, the Antec 902 which also does a great job of cooling. You cant go wrong with the 1200
+1 Quiet, tidy inside and the best looking case out there (unless you're really in to japanese children's cartoons from the 80s).
Meant the floor to which the Mobo is fixed to and the cavity between that and the right hand panel (looked at from the front) which allows you to duct all the cables through and keep them out of the main body. 1200 is proving to be a really quiet case and the fan controls are excellent. Have mine all on low currently and everything stays nice and cool so plenty of cooling headroom I'd guess. Also allows the addition of of additional fans if required. Would highly recommend the case though ... best one I've owned so far.
