Hi, I am trying to choose a GPU for my next build. I'm trying to stay under $350, but if it is really worth it I may go higher. I have being strongly considering the Sapphire HD6870 because it appears to have great performance for the price. It will be used for Crysis 2 on high settings at 1920 x 1080 and HD video encoding. Also, in case it makes a difference, the case will be an Antec Nine Hundred Two v3. I would prefer to purchase it from the below shop: PB Tech NZ Graphics Cards
I had a 6870 for a while. I played at the same res at high settings and was seeing about 40-60fps in Crysis 2. Bad company 2 achieved about 70-90fps. This was using an i3 540. What cpu are you going to use?
Dude, try ascent.co.nz as well, free shipping, reliable.. then again PBTech is just down the road for me. PB's has excellent RMA as well.. Anywho: In your price range you can choose 6870 or 460/560.. http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z...ire-HD6870-1G-GDDR5-Video-card-Dual-link-DVI- http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z...GeForce-GTX560-1G-PCI-E-Video-card--Dual-DVI+ http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z...GeForce-GTX-460-SuperClocked-Video-card---1G- See here for theoretical comparisons: http://www.hwcompare.com/11005/geforce-gtx-560-vs-radeon-hd-6870/ http://www.hwcompare.com/8240/geforce-gtx-460-1gb-vs-radeon-hd-6870/ Looks like the 6870 is the best bet, better cooler too. EDIT: 40 fps is playable. generally 30+ average fps is a good margin
I run a 6870 at 1920x1080 and with Crysis 2 (I keep V Sync enabled) I get 40-60FPS with DX11 enabled, High Res Textures disabled, most settings on Extreme apart from Post Processing which is Very High. Ultra being the max of course. For what you are looking at it sounds about right.
You'll get 40fps in Crysis 2. Almost guaranteed. In Bad company 2 you should get at LEAST 50-60fps. Edit: Read the description in this vid. He's using a 6870 and gets between 40 and 70fps. God i miss my 6870...
Hi, I just noticed that there is 3 of the same model. What's the difference? http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z...ire-HD6870-1G-GDDR5-Video-card-Dual-DVI-+-HDM http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z...ire-VAPOR-X-HD6870-1G-GDDR5-PCI-E-Video-card- http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z...ire-HD6870-1G-GDDR5-Video-card-Dual-link-DVI-
Take the cheaper one I'd say. Cards seem pretty much identical bar coolers. the vapour-x and the other fan (not squirrel cage style) one should be much the same
Sapphire 5850 Extreme: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-259-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1711 Currently playing Deus EX HR at 1680x1050 with max settings :cool Bought this card when it was £115. I believe it started as a sub-£100 card... the price keeps going up and up as more people cotton on to how good a card it is.
Thats because it isn't american pricing. We're working in New Zealand $. (approx 0.83 USD to 1NZD, and our prices are inflated a bit as we're at the bottom of the world.
