    Hi,

I am trying to choose a GPU for my next build. I'm trying to stay under $350, but if it is really worth it I may go higher.

I have being strongly considering the Sapphire HD6870 because it appears to have great performance for the price. It will be used for Crysis 2 on high settings at 1920 x 1080 and HD video encoding. Also, in case it makes a difference, the case will be an Antec Nine Hundred Two v3.

I would prefer to purchase it from the below shop:
    PB Tech NZ Graphics Cards

I had a 6870 for a while. I played at the same res at high settings and was seeing about 40-60fps in Crysis 2. Bad company 2 achieved about 70-90fps. This was using an i3 540.

What cpu are you going to use?

I'm going to use a Core i5 2500k. This may be a dumb question, but is the game playable at 40fps?

Dude, try ascent.co.nz as well, free shipping, reliable.. then again PBTech is just down the road for me. PB's has excellent RMA as well..

    Anywho:
In your price range you can choose 6870 or 460/560..

    See here for theoretical comparisons:

Looks like the 6870 is the best bet, better cooler too.

EDIT: 40 fps is playable. generally 30+ average fps is a good margin

I'd aim for 60 in BFBC2. Its got some odd stuttering issues.

I run a 6870 at 1920x1080 and with Crysis 2 (I keep V Sync enabled) I get 40-60FPS with DX11 enabled, High Res Textures disabled, most settings on Extreme apart from Post Processing which is Very High. Ultra being the max of course.

For what you are looking at it sounds about right.

You'll get 40fps in Crysis 2. Almost guaranteed.
In Bad company 2 you should get at LEAST 50-60fps.

    Edit:
Read the description in this vid. He's using a 6870 and gets between 40 and 70fps. God i miss my 6870...

Take the cheaper one I'd say. Cards seem pretty much identical bar coolers. the vapour-x and the other fan (not squirrel cage style) one should be much the same

Thats because it isn't american pricing. We're working in New Zealand $. :read:

(approx 0.83 USD to 1NZD, and our prices are inflated a bit as we're at the bottom of the world.

6870 is a pretty nice card and in crossfire they are really, really fast.
