@ OneSeventeen: Well spoken, I want to re-quote everything you said but that would make my post too long so I'll just say :thumb: (great, now I have to pray that you stay humble :sigh:  )
    LOL with 1st point

specofdust: I suspect that every day you deal with several people who are Christians but have never gotten preachy on you. I think there are a lot of Christians who think about it this way: I Can't "save" you - that's God's job. If God is reaching out to you or you're searching, I'll make myself available to him to assist you. If he isn't or you reject him then I'm not helping anyone by trying to force my beliefs on anyone. Most of the Christians I know are not at all pushy about religion and are very nice people (or at least try to be - and they realise that we humans are all a work in progress).

    Thanks Fly

In response to the original post then: My first thought was like trigger's (
) but I see your point:
I might look into it just for that. I have, however, chosen to use Mepis so as to Fly's point I'll respond with a little tongue in cheek analogy: We may believe in the same OS but that doesn't mean we all have to attend the same distro.

this link appears to be broken. please fix it.

    anyway, back on topic:

for those confused perhaps i can help. Think of it this way: punks and goths live in their own world. they go to thier respective clubs, hang out with thier respective friends of the same culture and view the outside world from a unique perspective. punks see anarchy, goths see a black and dark world. A walstreet buisiness man sees the world as all about buisiness, numbers and money. he has buisiness friends he golfs with and goes to fancy dinners with vip's. We christians have our own way of looking at things and see the world as the bible depicts it and we see God in everything around us. and like all humans, we surround ourselves with what we like, value and consider truth, and surround ourselves with people of like mind (usually at a church).

while a goth may shop at hot topic for pants by tripp and a buisinessman buys rolex watches, Christians often choose to buy (or in this case download) items that display thier affiliation with Jesus such as t-shirts, coffee mugs, bumper stickers, or even apparently OSes.

But is a Christian Ubuntu necessary? Not really, an OS is inherently nonreligious/amoral and so is fine as is. But then again so are tshirts and coffee mugs. Its all about personal preference. If someone feels this helps them in their spiritual quest to focus on God then I say it's worthwhile. Will I personally switch to this? nah. I don't really need it as I can do more on my own, but then this isn't for me. this is for the technically challenged with basic needs like web browsing and word processing. Actually I've wanted to get my grandmother on linux and this may really appeal to her.

So, will this OS pwn? no, but to those who wish to use it I say "More power to yah." hmmm...... I wonder if anyones working on a goth version..... :eyebrow:
