If you buy expensive components from ebay and they fail after a couple of months you have very little in the way of consumer rights to reclaim money or demand a replacement/repair.

Also, you are buying waaay to much RAM. Get 8GB. Shouldn't cost you more than about £35. Corsair Vengeance stuff here for £35

i5 2500k Would be a much better option. This board and a 2500k would cost you ~£240, and if you get 20 posts here, you qualify for free delivery.

Also, you can get the freezer 13 here for the same price as the freezer 7 on ebay

Are you using it for gaming? If so that 5670 with just 400 shaders won't cope with most modern games.

    Change everything.....

    Go for:

    - i5 2500K, P67 or Z68 board & Hyper 212+ cooler
    - 8 GB of DDR3 PC12800 (1600MT/s) memory.
    - Bit Fenix Shinobi Case or Fractal Design Define R3 is you want to spend a bit extra.

Buy from a reputable online shop such as Scan, Overclockers, Dabs or Ebuyer and you get all of the normal consumer protection + better prices.

+1 to this for such a big buy, use a credit card as well as it's well over £100.

And that Ram, well, it's £2 cheaper at CCL for starters.

It's called acceptable risk, if it's not a bargain then it's not acceptable.

Don't buy a stupid anti-static thing. Just ground yourself before you mess about and don't jiggle around too much.

    heh

I think those who weren't already in the mindset certainly took note after your post. :thumb:
And yet, it STILL isn't STICKIED!! :jawdrop: :wallbash:

As for OP, DO NOT buy all that from Ebay. I've had bad experiences with buying PC stuff from Ebay.
Never again. They weren't big and it wasn't major.
But it just isn't worth it.

As others have said, buy the i5 and associated stuff and definitely go for 8GB RAM. 16GB is
simply e-peen unless you're doing some major stuff that actually uses it all. :thumb:

Not surprised the consumer rights thread hasn't been stickied, I am grateful that I'm allowed to maintain it however. These matters can put Bit-Tech in an awkward position as it might appear we're on the attack through sponsors eyes. What I write is ours by law and I believe we should stick by them, if you believe you are right then gun for it all the way. Unfortunately in our culture it comes with an apologetic tone, the thinking being that perhaps we're not entitled to a replacement XBOX seeing as ours has lasted 3 years after all! This is utter rubbish and if it fails during normal use get on to that retailer whatever the faulty goods might be from the large to the small and the inexpensive to the valuable.

ebay is great for those little things though. I bought some Phobya Nano-2G fans because I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of dealing with signed postage via SCAN. Smaller value item so quite happy for the postie to stick it through the box! Some Anti-Freeze, Isopropanol, Ink Jet Cartridge Refills, Cable Ties, Books, Cables, these are all items I've bought off ebay for a few pounds. Might cost more than in the shop but taking into account the expense in time and petrol overall it's a saving by a large margin. So ebay ain't all bad, just buy the higher price goods elsewhere! :thumb:

While I understand how it could potentially be a bit awkward for Bit-Tech, surely sponsors would back these sorts of things? My personal experience with Scan has been exceptional, 100% support when I had to RMA things etc. - Generally they should have nothing to "fear" as such, so it can only be a good thing?

The only people who need fear this sort of thing are the dodgy ones, out to make a quick buck.

    - As for eBay, yeah for little things etc. Cables, odd bits and pieces it is brilliant. But definitely
keep the larger items for proper re/e-tailers. And use a CREDIT CARD! :D
